About

At Health and Food Matters it is our mission to address the need for healthy and sustainable lifestyle changes within our community. With increasing rates of disease such as diabetes, obesity, heart disease and cancer, we plan to fight back and provide an integrated program designed to empower people to take control of their health and well-being, reducing their risk of sickness in the future. The program framework is based on four pillars of wellness: Healthful Nutrition, Regular Moderate Physical Activity, Stress Management and strong group support. We believe an interconnected approach that is manageable and enjoyable is the key to long-term success.

Tyler Read is a physical education teacher, personal trainer, senior fitness instructor and wellness enthusiast with over a decade of experience working with individuals of all ages to reach their wellness goals. For the past 6 years, Tyler has been eating a whole food plant based diet and the results have been staggering. Higher energy, fantastic blood work results and a lean physique have been a few of the easy things to achieve while living his healthy lifestyle. As a teaching professional, Tyler realizes that it takes more than a healthy diet to maximize your health. It also takes moderate daily exercise, proper amounts of sleep, fulfilling relationships, smoking cessation, a sense of purpose and meaningfulness in life and the support of like-minded individuals looking to reach the same goals. As a co-founder of Health and Food Matters, he recognizes that people are bombarded with too much information telling them to go in conflicting directions. As your health mentor, Tyler hopes to guide you through this confusion during one of our comprehensive programs.
